Bluetooth Fairy is my brand new solo show. It’s a virtual download show, where no work will be displayed on the walls, instead members of the audience will receive the digital files via Bluetooth on their mobile phones. Once someone had received a piece of work they will be able to send the artwork via Bluetooth to high quality Canon printers at the show.

There will be 10 new pieces of work, some unreleased recent work, some unseen secret pieces. Only 10 people at the show will be selected at random to receive the work and they must choose to share the work with everyone else via Bluetooth or keep it completely to themselves. Either way the the digital files are released with a Creative Commons license, which allows the receiver to distribute, share, remix and reprint the work for non-commercial purposes.

I want the participants in the show to take the work away to share and reproduce it as a gift for their friends. There’s a maximum of 75 tickets per show and it will run 11, 12, 13th November at Filmbase in Dublin. Tickets go on sale at All City Records, Crow Street, Temple Bar on Tuesday 27th October.

20 Slides x 20 Seconds that’s the beauty of Pecha Kucha. as we all know, give a microphone to a designer (especially an architect) and you’ll be trapped for hours. The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its patented system for avoiding this fate. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.

So even if you find me irritating and boring, at least you’ll have to listen to 6min 40 sec of it.

This is a brand new piece I created for Printed Project – Film buffs will recognise Charlton Heston as Moses in The Ten Commandments. Instead of tablets it’s Marcel DuChamp’s ‘Fountain’ that he’s holding up (in worship or rage? You decide)

I produced the artwork onto 100limited edition cotton tote bags for the Pavilion at The Venice Biennale.

‘God Dates Fags’ is a new piece that I created for a forthcoming group show entitled ‘For the Love of God’ . I originally did five pieces each tackling a religion or belief of some kind.

I’ve been working on a lot of new stuff lately. This new piece, originally to be used on a bag. Probably going to end up as a print in the near future. Feel free to comment.

I didn’t think I’d ever see the day again when another generation of Irish people would have no choice than to board planes in search for work. Back in the 80’s Ireland was just a developing country, this time around we have allowed greedy banks and developers to dictate our economy. ‘Sinking Ship’ is a self explanatory piece about the banks sinking this country. While ‘Stitched Heart’ is about the people that have gone from me. Like Colin, John and Keith. Who I miss a lot.

A first for Toejam, but hopefully something that will grow into a bigger more frequent event. The idea is simple, we create, make and print a zine on the day from scratch in the Shaw. We start with a brief editorial meeting – not as boring as it sounds – a short discussion on who will do what i.e will do an article on some act or issue, who will do the artwork for it and so on. No previous experience necessary, just the enthusiasm for putting together a zine.

We also have the Irish Times’ Jim Carroll on board, along with Gareth Williamson creator of zine ‘Play That Song I Like’ . Wewill be adding more skills and disciplines over the next few days.

So, from start to finish, we will make a zine page by page, cuttings, sticking, illustrating, photocopying and stapling the finished article so you can take the zine home after a solid day’s work!

Zine Day will start at 1pm and finish at 6pm, is free to take part and attend and we will provide everything you need.
